Directors
| Nigel Herriott - Chairman |
Nigel joined the board in 2010 after retiring from a multi-national IT company where he had worked in sales and marketing for over 30 years, most recently as a sales manager. On joining the board Nigel was initially Sales Director with particular responsibility for circulation, advertising and relationships with sponsors and became Chairman in January 2012. Nigel lives and rings at Romsey in Hampshire and with the ASCY in London. |
| Fred Bone |
Fred is the RW’s IT Director, responsible for office systems and the website. He joined the Board in 2002 and was last re-elected in 2011. Fred took early retirement after a career in IT, specialising in bibliographic cataloguing and information retrieval systems. He now does voluntary work as an Adviser (and spare-time IT support!) with Citizens Advice Bureau. |
| Bill Hibbert |
Bill has been a bell ringer for over 40 years. He has worked for many years for magazine and newspaper publishers and has considerable knowledge of publishing and IT systems, and website implementation.
Bill's primary interest in bell ringing is the sound and acoustics of bells, which he has been investigating for 15 years. He has recently been awarded a doctorate by the Open University for his research. |
| Chris Mew |
Chris has been ringing for over 50 years and has served on the Central Council for 16 years, latterly on the Tower Stewardship Committee. His professional experience is in project management, planning and parliamentary matters. A past Master of the Surrey Association and President of the Coventry Diocesan Guild, Chris continues support at local level in Towers and Belfries and Child Protection issues. |
| Adrian Udal |
Adrian joined the board at the 2010 AGM and is Production Director. He spent most of his professional career working in Television as an Editor for a national broadcaster. In 2011 he worked on the paper's Centenary celebrations in London and is part of the organising team of the Ringing World National Youth Contest.
Adrian is Tower Secretary at St Giles-in-the-Fields and a member of the St Margaret's, Westminster band. His interests include making recordings of ringing. |
| Richard Wallis |
Richard joined the Board in May 2011 and was appointed Finance Director shortly thereafter in succession to Chris Rogers. At the time of his appointment Richard had just celebrated 25 years of ringing and 15 years as a member of the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers. He was Treasurer of the CC Publications Committee and then went on to become one of the Council's Independent Examiners (a post that he still holds).
Richard has always rung at Godstone and has been very involved in the Surrey Association - as its General Secretary for 17 years (ongoing) and as the holder of several District posts before and during that time. After training in private practice, Richard has held various finance jobs in the National Health Service - he is currently employed by a mental health Foundation Trust. |
| Ian Oram (Company Secretary) |
Ian prepares the agenda for the Board Meetings and takes the Minutes; he is responsible for the Annual Returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House.
Ian succeeded Chris Rogers as Secretary of the Central Council, holding this post for eight years. He represents the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths on the Council and is also a Trustee of that Society. He is a member of the Council's Bell Restoration Committee. After eleven years as Ringing Master of the Northern Division of the Sussex County Association, Ian has recently vacated that post, but continues to support the Division at its weekly practices. |
