Front Cover: The tower collector’s tale – a personal journey
Part 1 – Why do you do it? by Graham Nabb
For over forty years my hobby has been collecting towers or ‘tower grabbing’ as it is known colloquially. I have derived huge pleasure from it and yet frequently when I say what I do I am asked one question – Why do you it? This has always struck me as a daft question and yet it seems that over the course of a series of articles on Tower Collecting I must provide some insight if not an explanation! I hope to give some flavour for tower grabbing as well as describing my personal journey.

Part 4: The move by Peter Davies
The easiest bit of the move to the new office was choosing the two days of the week which were best for moving (one day for the removal company to pack our stuff and a second day for them to transfer it all to the new premises where we would unpack it). Production of the RW is actually a continuous process without any detectable break – as soon as an edition has gone to the printers, work starts on the next one. In fact, the issues overlap because of the backlog of copy, especially quarter peals. An issue goes to the printers at noon on a Tuesday and therefore Wednesday is the calm after the storm.

A very special occasion in Perth ‘down under’
Friday, 2nd January no doubt started in the Hodgkin household in a very calm and calculated manner; hairdos for the ladies, a quick reminder of how to tie a neck tie for Ken and all the other preparations that are necessary before a wedding. For this was the day of the wedding of Vicki Hodgkin and Rhys Greenhalgh, long-standing members of the Perth ringing scene.

Memorial Book for church bell ringers killed by enemy action during the War of 1939 – 1945
The Memorial Book for the 1939 to 1945 War is placed, along with the Great War Roll of Honour, in a purpose built display cabinet on the way to the ringing chamber at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The list of names written in that book is now available on line on the Central Council website, I am very grateful to Peter Trotman for his help in getting this new section of the website ready for use.
Thought for the week
Holy Week is the most solemn week in the year and that is why most church bells remain silent after Palm Sunday until Easter Day. A real drama is played out through the events of Holy Week.
