Catering

One of the things that the caused the Ringing Roadshow team much difficulty back in 2005 was the arrangements for catering. In those days catering at Newbury Racecourse was provided by a contractor, who often subcontracted to mobile outlets. Rather late in the day the team discovered that communication between the Racecourse and the caterers was not of the best, with the almost inevitable result. Fast forward to 2014 and catering is now firmly in-house.

The main catering outlet will be in the Berkshire Stand on the first floor, which, some of you with long memories will know was the room in which the seminars took place on our last visit. It is also where the bar is. Combined, the Long Room and Paddock View should have plenty of space for those seeking refreshment. The menu will comprise hot and cold snacks, of the soup, sandwich, burger, pizza variety. I have explained to them how much ringers can eat (and drink) and they assure me that if they can deal with thousands of racegoers they can cope with us. Here’s hoping!

Additionally there will be an outlet serving hot and cold drinks and snacks on the first floor of the main Grandstand where the exhibition will take place. The Grandstand is, these days, named the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand, but don’t get your hopes up – it’s just a brand not a tax haven.

Coaches

There is plenty of free parking for vehicles of all sizes, but if you are planning to bring a coach please could you let me know so that we can set aside appropriate space. Additionally, if your coach party wishes to ring on the way to or from the Ringing Roadshow we will try and accommodate you at a tower where coach parking is easy, and you will not have to queue.

Tickets

Ticket sales are going steadily but slowly. Don’t leave it to the last minute to buy yours as this will put real pressure on the Roadshow team. Advanced tickets at the reduced price of £10 will be available via mail-order until 31st August, and on the RR website. After that they will be £12 on the day.
